After the debut event in Prague in April, Gravity Berlin #1 is the second large-scale event organised by Gravity – Network of Electronic Music Venues, an international initiative co-funded by Creative Europe Programme of the European Union. Gravity Network aims to develop electronic music culture by creating an expanding network of venues that cooperate to stimulate transnational mobility of selected local artists and educate communities involved in the culture as well as the public.
The second event of the Gravity series will be hosted by RSO.BERLIN in late June, combining panel discussions on Thursday 23rd from 12:00 and a heavy-hitting lineup on the club night on Friday 24th from 22:00.
Raising very needed conversations, the discussions held on Thursday 23rd will cover topics such as the long-standing effects of the pandemic on the nightlife scene, new challenges for club culture that arise from the contemporary political, social and climate context; techno-capitalism and Instagram economy and the aftermath of the Black Lives Matter movement. The panel discussions will count with the intervention of Nene H, Christine Kakaire (Black Artist Database), DVS1, Anastasia Tikhomirova (Zeit online), Marcel Weber (SchwuZ), DJ Bloomfeld, Andrea Piest (SONAR Safer Nightlife Berlin) and many others. Free admission to all panels.
Focusing on supporting peripheral electronic music communities and young talent, the club-night lineup on Friday 24th fitly combines artists from the very fertile Gravity roster with widely-known performers. The ROBUS floor will be led by electro stalwart DJ Stingray and sped-up-bass queen DJ Mell G alongside a polished live set by The Exaltics and a b2b novelty between Chloe Lula and Irakli. All of it wrapped up by Warsaw’s MKO.
On the left of the spectrum, the SUMME floor will host skilled deconstructed-club musician upsammy, Jasna 1’s Kovvalsky, Deviant’s head Claudia, Polish artist Charlie, Czech duo DeSteffan & Volume Sphere, and the slow-chugged live set of Salon des Amateurs’ Tolouse Low Trax.
